Winter is here
Winter is here
Well for a
lot of you out there that look forward to winter, the rain, snow, fire place,
winter clothes and cold weather, well that is not what I am talking about here.
If you are looking for some romance or a weather forecast on how winter is
going to be, then you are in the wrong place.
If you have
never watched Game of thrones, oh dear you are missing out on a lot of action
and drama and a lot of phrases that have became popular over the years. Not to
spoil it for you, you can guess that the meaning of “winter is here” is that
things are going really bad.
If you have
already braced yourself and prepared yourself mentally, physically and
financially then winter shouldn’t affect you that much, but what happens when
you don’t?
I have been
taken by surprise by winter a few times, finding myself in a position that I did
not see myself reaching. In the past, I got a new job with a decent salary and
started to organize and budget my spending’s accordingly; however, I didn’t prepare
myself for winter and oh boy it hit me hard.
While it is
always wise to look ahead, I guess I was just too confident that I will stay in
my new job which only lasted a few months only for me to move on. What happened
was unexpected, and the common mistake was I didn’t prepare for worst case scenario.
I had to
learn things the hard way, one day being in a nice summer day the next day I was
in the eye of the storm. Life sometimes can get a bit intensive and
unpredictable but it is always good to have a plan B and a worst case scenario plan
just in case winter takes you by surprise.
It can be
anything from a savings account, a passive income, a friend that can get you a
job or an old company that you used to work for and still have a good
relationship with. Though you can never be over prepared and confident that you
your current state will last forever, it is always good to have another option
just in case things go sideways.
