Why I went Vegan
Why I went Vegan
I never saw
that one coming, to be honest, but I didn’t
go from being a regular meat eater to being vegan overnight rather I became a vegetarian
first.
I always regarded myself as a cannibal and proud, where meat was present in breakfast, lunch, and dinner and used to snack on minced pies and
always regarded vegetables and fruits as a waste of space both on the table and
in my stomach. I did try to go vegetarian in the past, I think the longest was
15 hours more or less.
Growing up,
I always had stomach problems, never knew what really was the cause from doctor
to another a variety of medicine, putting some veggies here and but still
nothing really worked. 29 years of age, stomach problems increasing as I got
older, still too stubborn to have veggies or cut down on the meat, I came
across Lara the creator of Larasvegankitchen.com. She put it into a really
simple way, she asked me have I ever seen an animal being slaughtered or mass
animal farming, the way they treat animals, what they feed them, the feelings
of fear that most likely gets stored in the animals DNA and transferred to you
when you eat them?
Think about
it, you are eating a dead body, depending on what is common in your area of upbringing, from Beef, Lamp, pork, camel, fish,
cat, dog, rabbit, duck and some other birds and animals. If you are in Europe,
you might never even think of eating a dog as they are highly popular as a pet,
but other parts of the world it is totally fine.
Maybe they
just want to live, like everything else, just because they can’t talk it doesn’t
mean that they don’t feel. We are creatures of habit
and highly influenced by our surroundings, social norms and culture. Not to
mention, eating dairy products and eggs? Don’t
even get me started on how does that even make sense.
Nope, I am
not a fanatic, vegan advocate, by all means, I do eat meat sometimes. Not being
a hypocrite here but by all means, I am
trying and have gone on for months with no animal products at all. Stomach
problems have almost disappeared, I do feel a little bit better overall but
mostly I feel more aware of my surroundings and the impact of what I put in my
mouth on the environment and my overall health.
By all
means, I am not trying to convert you or promote, all I am trying to do is
spread awareness and share my experience.
