Is Social Media Putting you down?
Is Social Media Putting you down?
Good
question, well if you have no idea what self-regulation is or reflection, I think
you have some catching up reading to do. Feeling down and demotivated lately
and have no idea where it is coming from? Well it kind of sounds familiar is we
do run into depressed people a lot these days and most of them don’t even know
why.
There are
many known factors to feeling down or depressed, basically not having the
things that you want and seeing others that have it on a regular basis, which
leads to the “why not me” question. Things like a better job or a job, house,
car, athletic body bigger bank account and the list goes on and on. You
probably already know what you want and that you don’t have it, no I am not
rubbing it in rather I am trying to help you identify the core of the problem.
First
things first, get into the habit of reflection, every night before you sleep
reflect on your day and how it has gone for you and what you did and didn’t do
that day. It does sound like an easy exercise to practice but sometimes it can
get overwhelming, just to give you the heads up.
Look into
how much time you spend on social media per day, checking who got a job, who
went on a holiday who did this who said that, wow they get a new dress, did you
see her latest look, did you see his new car and the list goes on. Now, note
that you are taking all that information in and comparing it to what you have
and most likely beating yourself up that you will never have that or get there.
If this doesn’t
sound like an endless source of depression I am not sure what does. You need to
pay attention to what you are exposing yourself to on a daily basis, think of
it as food if you expose yourself to too much junk food what will happen? On the
other if you expose yourself to too much news, information that make you feel
bad, what will happen?
Probably
you have never thought about it this way, but you are consuming it all just
like food, but instead of filling your stomach you are filling your brain. Not
saying to snap your fingers and delete yourself of the face of the earth “Thanos
style”, rather self-regulate what kind of things that you want to be exposed to
and make sure that is will only help you grow as a person in a positive way.
